Updates On Q And Gemini

It’s not often that Google and Amazon are behind the 8 ball, but that’s where they find themselves in the AI model arms race.

Gemini and Q were supposed to fix that, but it appears both are having a bit of trouble at the moment.

Gemini

I have spilled obscene amounts of ink talking about Google’s Gemini release, and trust me, I’d really like the thing to just come out.

And it looked like I’d finally be put out of my misery next week, but now its release has been postponed until January.

The problem?

It didn’t handle non-English queries very well.

So, we’ll have to just wait until January to finally see Google’s flagship model.

Q

A more recent entry to the AI model directory, Q is Amazon’s AI chatbot built for corporate environments.

What would you want out of a corporate chatbot? Well, probably something that is reliable and, most of all, secure.

Unfortunately, Q is currently neither of those things, as it is “experiencing severe hallucinations and leaking confidential data”. 

Let’s hope Amazon can patch that up soon.

Some perspective: Google and Amazon are scrambling to release a GPT-4 level chatbot a full 8 months after its release. It’s crazy how far ahead OpenAI is.
