Neuralink is in the news again

Gm! It’s Brett again. Just got back from a team retreat in upstate New York. Forgot how nice it is to unplug for a bit. Glad to plug back in and bring you the latest tech news this week!

BROUGHT TO YOU BY:

🏠 Neurotech

Cyborgs

The first thing we all need to accept is that we're officially living in a sci-fi movie after that Neuralink demo dropped.

Noland Arbaugh was paralyzed in an accident but now he's out here playing chess and video games like Civilization VI telekinetically. It's wild!

Obviously, the tech behind this is next-level, but I was surprised by how simple the core concept is.

Neuralink basically wove a bunch of sensor threads directly into Noland's motor cortex to read his neural firing patterns when he thinks about movement.

Each of those threads contains high-density electrodes capable of detecting electrical brain activity, aka brainwaves. The N1 chip alone has 1,024 electrodes distributed across 64 threads - that's 16 electrodes per thread jammed into Noland's head. Crazy stuff.

With all those sensors embedded in the region controlling body movement, Neuralink can recognize specific brainwave signatures when Noland thinks about actions like "move mouse right." They then matched those neural patterns to the intended cursor movements so his thoughts translate directly into computer controls.

I know what you're thinking - an evil AI corp is gonna hack our brains and leave us braindead while they mine Dogecoin with our neurons. But it's just a one-way data stream, so Neuralink can't control us... yet.

But this is just the beginning - brain-computer symbiosis is about to hit serious strides over the next decade.

Hold onto your cerebrum, folks, the future is looking telepathic AF!

The Big Picture: What once seemed like fringe science fiction is now becoming mainstream reality. The Neuralink demo was our official wake-up call that we've entered the brain-computer interface era - a paradigm shift towards fusing human brains and machines.
