Meta’s Hardware Heat

Meta’s been in the news lately for a bunch of software (read: AI) releases, but we’re spicing things up this week.

It’s Meta Connect Conference season, which means new hardware heat from the Zuckerbergs.

First up we have the Quest 3, the next edition in Meta’s VR headset line. This baby isn’t like the other Quest headsets:

It’s a mixed-reality headset, as its “passthrough” ability gives it the ability to see the world outside the heat. Want to play a VR piano on your dining room table? Go for it, king.
It uses the new Snapdragon XR2 chip from Qualcomm to deliver twice the graphic processing power.
It has a display that is 30% more powerful than the Quest 2.
It’s spatial audio is 40% better than the Quest 2.
It has a 110-degree field of view.

Moving on, we have the Ray-Ban Smart Glasses. Not only are these things actually drippy, it comes with extremely cool technology:

Speakers that work even in windy or noisy environments.
An ultra-wide 12 MP camera that can take high-quality 3024 by 4032p photos and 1080p videos for up to 60 seconds.
Up to 36 hours of use with the charging case.
More than 150 design combos possible when considering frame color, style, and lenses.

The Quest 3 retails for $499, and the smart glasses go for $299. And honestly, for how cool they look, I might have to cop some myself.

The Big Picture: We’ll have to see if people actually buy this stuff, but this looks like a dub for Meta.
