Who takes racks on racks on racks

Gm! Brett here!

I've opened up two spots in my brand new coaching practice for early stage founders looking to level up. Having a great coach is crucial for every founder - it was a key reason we were able to hit big milestones for my startup like raising from a16z.

Over the years, I've coached hundreds of founders through tough times like cofounder breakups and huge achievements like raising millions from top tier investors. I recently started doing more formal 1-1 coaching and results have been amazing - one of my clients said "This was the best coaching experience I've ever had. Everything I hoped would happen did."

It's been so personally rewarding that I'm taking on two more clients. You can apply here or email me directly at [email protected] with questions.

The Great Hacking Crisis

Mercury must be in retrograde or something, because these hacks are just getting ridiculous:

In just the last few weeks:

And if you are thinking this has been a thing beyond just the past few weeks, you’d be correct:

  • There have been 70 zero-day exploits found so far this year, which is a record pace.

  • North Korea’s Lazarus Group has stolen $240M in crypto in the last 109 days.

So, what gives? Why are cyberattacks suddenly happening seemingly every day? Well, there are multiple possible explanations:

  • AI makes hackers more capable, and thus, more dangerous. It’s like trying to fight somebody on steroids.

  • Technology is getting increasingly complex, making it harder to defend.

  • An increasing amount of companies are now willing to pay a ransom, providing a financial incentive to attack.

  • Hacktivism is on the comeback thanks to the Ukraine War.

Although hacking is uncomfortably common right now, the chances of you running into a hack are still pretty low. But, to stay safe, it is probably best to be suspicious of links, use a firewall, and run antivirus software.

The Big Picture: It’s the glory days for hackers.

🏃‍♀️ QUICKIES

What else is going on?

  • iOS 17 has arrived, and StandBy, Live Voicemail, Improved Autocorrect, and FaceTime Video Messages have arrived along with it.

  • You can now use Bard to answer questions based on what is in your Gmail Inbox and Drive storage. Basically, it knows everything about you.

  • Elon definitely didn’t want to use Teslas to spy on you. Who would ever do such a thing?

  • Neuralink is recruiting subjects for its first human trial. Those people are much braver than me.
